Short description, research and educational contributions

The Faculty of Engineering and Management in Machine Buiding (FEMMB) is one of the ten faculties at the university. The Faculty prepares high qualification engineers in the field of professional formation “Engineering and Industrial Technologies” in six specialties (for Bachelor): Machines Construction Technology; Equipment Constructions and Agricultural Machines; Production Machines and Systems; Industrial Design; Machines Construction Engineering and Management; Innovational Engineering and Technological Transfer. Currently at the Faculty are studying 700 students in above specialties, within 7 departments. The studies are based on about 98 license programs, as 10 from them are for Master study and 4 - for Doctor degree (including Tribology). IMCM Faculty disposes of about 30 Research and Educational Laboratories and 4 Research Centers.

The Department of Machinery and Production Systems (DMSP) has prepared over 800 high quality engineers till this time at different specialties – “Machines and Tools”, “Projection of Automated Systems” and “Machines and Systems of Production”. The DMSP offers now the specialty “Production Machines and Systems”, as in the curriculum is included the subject “Tribology of Technical Systems”. Within the Department are functioning two Scientific Councils for PhD and habilitations in “Tribology” and “Mechanical and Physics–Technical Processing Procedures and Equipment”. In the Department are elaborated 23 PhD dissertations and 3 DSc dissertations.

The main research directions of DMSP are: - Elaboration of new electro-technologies of processing, reconditioning and hardening of broken machines parts with electrolytic usage resistant covering; - Tribology of technical systems; - Resonance nanotechnologies. Over the years, the Department performed researches in more than 45 contracts, signed with different enterprises and scientific research institutions in both Moldova and ex-USSR countries.

Within the Department function:
  ·   Laboratory for Metallographic;
  ·   Laboratory on Mechanics and Tribology of metals and alloys;
  ·   Laboratory on hydraulic and pneumatic;
  ·   The Interuniversity Education and Research Center “Resonance Technologies”;
  ·   The Intern. Center of Education, R&D and Technol. Transfer “The Technique of Hydraulic and Pneumatic Action”;
  ·   Center of Constructive and Functional Projection;
  ·   Machines and Equipment Laboratory;
  ·   Laboratory for Technological Processes Automation;
  ·   Laboratory for Studying, Projecting and Fabrication of Cutting Tools.

The following educational and research activities as contribution to the project will be performed:
      Tribology of Technical Systems – critical temperatures of oils in limit regime of lubrication; wear resistance of tribosystems materials, in sliding or rolling regime;
      Tribological couples with usage resistant electrolytic coating behavior
        - Research and obtaining of electrolytic coatings (iron basis) resistant to usage;
        - Electrolytic coatings (Fe, Fe-Ni, etc) and coated machines elements with auto-lubrication properties;
        - Restore of machines and structures with galvanic usage resistant coatings, utilizing resonance phenomena;
        - Hardening and reconditioning of machines elements with electrolytic coatings, usage resistant;
        - Electrocorrosives effects in unconventional technologies;
      Machines and Systems of Production.
