Department “Silicate Technology” was founded in 1953 and inherited the best traditions of the Bulgarian Chemical Higher Education. Up to now the academic issue covers about 2000 undergraduate and post- graduate students in both scientific branches “Technology of Silicates” and “Silicate Materials”. Nowadays our specialists occupy leading and superintending positions in more than 20 silicate industrial enterprises, scientific- research centers, laboratories, as well as scientific and governmental institutions. The department can be treated as a basic educational and scientific- research powerful unit in term of its importance in the field of Material Science, Technology and Processing in Bulgaria. National and International relations exist with leading Bulgarian and European enterprises, scientific centers and laboratories, including the Institutions of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The continuous international relations are broadening due to staff participation in many research and educational projects and exchange programs, based on bilateral agreements.
