The lecture course is designed for the students from the following modules: “Technology of Inorganic Substances” and “Electrochemical Technologies and Protection from Corosion”. The goal is to acquaint students with silicate technologies for the production of the most important silicate materials: ceramics, glass, binding materials, refractors and so on. The main and accessory raw materials, their preparation and the most common technological schemes are discussed. The properties of the obtained materials and their application in life, building constructions and techniques are presented.
Some attention is paid to the connection between silicate manufactures with the other industrial branches, the problems with the environment and the possibilities to apply technologies without waste products.
